From dark-fruited Cab to velvet Merlot and spice-laden Syrah, this box was curated for fireside reveries, Sunday roasts, and spontaneous power outages that just happen to coincide with uncorking something profound.

Journey's End - V4 Cabernet Sauvignon
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Nose: Cassis, pencil shavings, cedarwood and a whisper of eucalyptus
Palate: Dense and elegant with ripe blackberries, tobacco, and firm, grippy tannins that promise a long life (if you don't drink it immediately)
Food pairing: Braised lamb shanks, slow-roast beef, or dark chocolate with sea salt

Jordan - The Prospector Syrah
Varietal: 100% Syrah
Nose: Smoked meat, black pepper, violets and ripe plum
Palate: Smooth and savoury with dark cherry and spice, rounded off with a lick of oak
Food pairing: Grilled boerewors rolls with caramelised onions or beef potjie

Van Loggerenberg Wines - Break A Leg Merlot
Varietal: 100% Merlot
Nose: Red cherries, rose petals, wild herbs
Palate: Juicy, silky and surprisingly elegant with freshness that makes you rethink everything you knew about Merlot
Food pairing: Mushroom risotto, pork belly or your third helping of lasagne
Moment Pairing: Midweek meal turned candlelit date night (even if you're alone - you deserve it)
Raats Family Wines - Dolomite Cabernet Franc
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Franc
Nose: Redcurrant, graphite, wild herbs and that mysterious "I'm expensive" smell
Palate: Sleek and savoury with fine tannins and lifted acidity; think finesse over force
Food pairing: Chargrilled aubergine, duck breast or a rare steak
Moment Pairing: Power's out. You light the fire. Somehow, you're a character in a French art film now.
The High Road - Classique 2020
Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc
Nose: Blackcurrant, dried herbs, cigar box
Palate: Classic and polished with ripe fruit, silky tannins and a long, Bordeaux-like finish
Food pairing: Roast beef with Yorkshire puddings, or a stew you "accidentally" started cooking at 10 am
Moment Pairing: Sunday lunch that turns into a nap that turns into "oops, it's dark already"
Vriesenhof - Jan Boland Coetzee Red
(Merlot 43%, Cabernet Sauvignon 37%, Cabernet Franc 20%)
Varietals: As above - a finely tuned trio
Nose: Mulberry, dried sage, earthy spice and old leather
Palate: Harmonious and layered, with supple tannins and generous fruit, wrapped in old-world charm
Food pairing: Lamb tagine, tomato-based pasta or biltong by the fireplace
Moment Pairing: The rain is biblical. Your slippers are on. This wine is open. Life is under control.
