Nose:
Aromatic layers of apricot, peach, and quince with floral notes, evolving into citrus and subtle spice.
Palate:
Balanced and textured with citrus freshness, gentle creaminess, and a mineral edge. Well-integrated oak frames the fruit without overpowering it.
Ageing Potential:
Enjoy now, but capable of developing further depth and roundness over 3-5 years.
Food Pairings:
Grilled linefish, crayfish with garlic butter, or roast poultry dishes. The wine's texture also works well with creamy chicken pies.
Moment Pairing:
Perfect for summer lunches, seaside dinners, or gatherings where variety on the table calls for a versatile white.
Vineyards & Harvest:
Primarily from Zevenwacht's Polkadraai Hills vineyards at 200-350m on decomposed granite soils, with some Chenin from Banhoek. Grapes harvested at 22-23.5 Brix.
Vinification:
Whole-bunch pressed and settled before fermentation in 500L French oak barrels, with 15% in concrete eggs. Aged 8 months on lees, with partial malolactic fermentation for added complexity.
