Sydney Back was the pioneer of estate brandy in South Africa. With his typical determination and an unyielding belief in the quality of our grapes, he set out to alter legislation allowing for Estate Brandy production that would equal the great Cognacs of France.
His vision and attention to detail were aptly rewarded when his maiden release was presented with the Domecq Trophy at the London Wine and Spirits Competition in 1995 for the Best Brandy in the World.
Sydney Back Potstill Brandy is the epitome of Potstill Brandy. Crafted using cognac-style methods, with a base of Chenin Blanc wine, its rich golden hue and distinct flavours of dried peach, sweet tobacco and hints of tea and cinnamon, make it a distinguished drink with a long and smooth finish.
