Nose:
The bouquet is expressive and complex, unfolding with blackberry and cassis layered against oak spice, chocolate, and leather. Cranberry fruit adds a lift of freshness, giving the nose both power and finesse.
Palate:
Rich and polished, the palate shows ripe black fruit at its core, accented by earthy spice and savoury notes. Fine-grained tannins provide structure while delicate acidity keeps the wine balanced. The finish is long, bright, and dry, with lingering depth.
Ageing Potential:
With its concentration and balance, Camissa has the structure to cellar gracefully for 10-12 years. Over time, it will evolve further complexity, revealing cedar, tobacco, and savoury spice.
Food Pairings:
A fine match for charcuterie boards - particularly pâté and terrines - or dishes featuring mushrooms, herbs, and spice. Its elegance also makes it a refined partner for classic roasts.
Moment Pairing:
An ideal wine for refined dinners and long evenings of conversation, best enjoyed when time slows and focus turns to the glass.
Vineyards & Harvest:
Produced only in exceptional vintages, Camissa is a Franschhoek-grown blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Petit Verdot. Low-yielding vineyards ensure concentration, structure, and balance.
Vinification:
Each varietal was vinified separately before maturation in French oak barriques for 24 months, 30% of which were new. The blending process brought together depth, elegance, and ageing potential. Only 8,053 bottles were produced.
