Delivers a resilient, long-lasting coating that withstands daily wear and tear, maintaining its fresh appearance over time.
Step 1: Surface Preparation
- Clean: Degrease the concrete thoroughly to remove any oil, wax, or contaminants.
- Profile: Mechanically grind the cementitious surface or use acid etching. The cementitious must feel like medium-grit sandpaper to allow the epoxy to bond permanently.
- Vacuum: Remove every trace of dust and debris before starting.
Step 2: Apply the Primer Coat
- Mix: Blend a small batch of clear liquid epoxy (Resin primer and Hardener primer only).
- Roll: Apply a thin layer across the floor using a roller to seal the porous cementitious substrate. This prevents air bubbles from rising into your main sand layer. Let it sit until tacky.
Step 3: Mix the Epoxy Color Sand Slurry
- Blend Liquids and Sand: Pour Part A (Resin) and Part B (Sand) into the large central mixing bucket. Mix thoroughly for 3 minutes using a drill with a paddle mixer on low speed. Scrape the bottom and sidewalls of the bucket frequently, until the sand is completely wet out and forms a uniform, paste-like consistency.
Step 4: Spread and Level
- Pour: Immediately pour the mixture out onto the floor in long rows or ribbons. The mixture covers upto 10 - 14 square meters. Do not leave the mixed slurry in the bucket, or it will rapidly overheat and harden.
- Trowel: Use a flat steel scrapper to flatten and tightly compact the color sand mix across the floor to your desired thickness.(1mm thickness covers 14square meters & 2mm thickness covers 10square meters, for a less busy area we suggest 1mm thickness and for a busy area we suggest 2mm thickness)
- Roll: Put on spiked shoes and run a spiked roller over the wet surface to pop trapped air pockets/bubbles and settle the sand evenly. Allow the floor to cure for 24 hours.
Step 5: Apply the Clear Lock/Topcoat
- Sand Lightly: Once the sand layer is fully cured, scrape or sand away any rough, protruding sand grains, then vacuum the dust.
- Seal: Mix and apply a final coat of clear, UV-resistant epoxy topcoat with a high-quality squeegee or roller. This seals the textured sand, making the floor easy to clean while maintaining slip resistance.
