GUIDE TO INITIALIZING AND FORMATTING YOUR NVMe SSD (Windows 10/11)
NOTE: This process is required if you are using the NVMe SSD in an external enclosure (portable) or as a secondary drive inside your PC.
Steps:
- Connect the SSD: Physically connect the NVMe SSD to your PC (via enclosure or internally).
- Open Disk Management: Right-click the Start button and select Disk Management.
- Initialize the Disk:
- If a prompt appears automatically, select GPT (GUID Partition Table) and click OK.
- If no prompt appears, locate the drive (it will typically be marked as "Unknown" and "Not Initialized"), right-click it, and select Initialize Disk.
- Create a New Volume: Right-click the newly available unallocated space on the drive and select New Simple Volume.
- Follow the New Simple Volume Wizard:
- Specify Volume Size: Use the default (maximum) size.
- Assign Drive Letter: Choose any available drive letter.
- Format Partition:
- Select NTFS as the file system (this is usually the default).
- Check the box for Perform a quick format.
Complete the Process: Click Finish to finalize the setup.
