To ensure the safety of your fish and shrimp, please follow these guidelines when using WEIZU Aquarium Mud:
- Do not wash the soil before use. Washing can cause it to break down into powder and cloud the water.
- Add water slowly and gently after planting to avoid disturbing the substrate and causing cloudiness.
- Cycle your tank properly (ideally 4-6 weeks) before adding sensitive fish. The soil releases nutrients that can temporarily affect water parameters.
- Monitor water parameters (especially pH, ammonia, and nitrites) closely during the first 2-3 weeks after setup.
- Perform small, frequent water changes (10-20%) during the initial setup period if the water becomes cloudy.
- Do not mix with other gravels or sands unless you have experience with layered substrates.
- Avoid strong water flow directly on the substrate (adjust filter output if needed).
- Not recommended for fish or shrimp that require high pH / alkaline water (e.g., African cichlids, marine fish).
- Keep out of reach of children and store sealed if not using the full bag immediately.
Pro Tip: Start with hardy plants and easy fish (e.g. shrimp, snails, guppies) during the first month while the tank matures.
