Commonly used in the tyre industry for measuring tyre tread depth
Increments of 32nds "refers to a precise system of measurement where an inch is divided into 32 equal parts" As tyres wear down, the measurement decreases in1/32" increments
Safety Thresholds:
6/32" or higher: Considered safe, good tread
4/32" Tyres should be considered for replacement (reduced wet traction)
2/32" The standard for "bald" tyres; they must be replaced immediately
