A solenoid valve on a turbocharger is an electronically controlled valve that regulates engine boost pressure and turbine speed by opening and closing a wastegate or adjusting vanes, thereby preventing overboosting, optimizing performance, and improving fuel efficiency. The solenoid receives signals from the engine's computer (ECU) to control the flow of vacuum, which in turn operates a diaphragm or wastegate actuator to manage the amount of exhaust gas reaching the turbine.
