A throttle body is a valve that controls how much air enters a car's engine by regulating the opening of a butterfly valve, or throttle plate, inside a housing. It connects the air intake system to the engine's intake manifold, and its position is adjusted when the accelerator pedal is pressed to increase or decrease engine power. This airflow, in conjunction with the fuel delivery system, determines the air-fuel mixture necessary for combustion and engine speed.
