?Saab J-37 Viggen is a Swedish, single-engine, multi-purpose confusing with duck lobes. Design work on the machine began in 1964, and the flight of the prototype took place on February 8, 1967. Several major versions of this successful aircraft were created. The AJ-37 Viggen was developed with a strong contribution of U.S. technology and experience as part of military technology cooperation and exchange agreement between the two administrations.
This agreement was part of the security guarantees given to officially neutral Sweden by the UNITED STATES government. In return, the U.S. government used to protect submarines deployed along the west coast of Sweden equipped with UGM-27 Polaris missiles with nuclear warheads. As a consequence, Viggen was developed faster and at a lower cost than if it had been constructed exclusively by Sweden. The first aircraft was put into service in the myliwsko-assault version.
The letters of the designation AJ come from Attack Jakt - Szturmowo-Myliwski. The AJ 37 had seven nodes to suspend the armament, two under the wings, two at the air intakes and one central under the fuselage, on which the fuel tank could also be installed. On the lobes, there was still a place for two additional suspension points, which, however, were not used. The next version is the SF-37 Viggen, which will be a reconnaissance and photographic reconnaissance machine.
The flight took place in 1973. Another version is the SH-37, i.e. a maritime reconnaissance aircraft. A typically Myliwa aircraft is the JA-37 Viggen model, which was flown in 1974. It has a stronger engine and, as the only Viggen, fixed small arms. The only user of Viggen is the military aviation of Sweden. Technical data (JA-37 version): length: 16.4m, wingspan: 10.6m, height: 5.9m, maximum speed: 2230km/h, climb speed: 203m/s, practical ceiling: 18800m, maximum range: 2000km, armament: fixed- 1 Oerlikon cal.30mm cannon, suspended-up to 6000kg of cargo. ?
