Features
Purple Tea is derived from Camellia Sinensis, the same plant as black, green and white tea. This rare tea variety was developed by Kenya Tea Research Institute (TRI) over a period of 25 years of research and naturally produces purple-reddish leaves unlike the typical green tea leaves. This variety is grown in higher and cooler elevations of between 4,500 to 7,500 feet which allows the plant to sustain more intense sun rays causing it to produce high concentrations of anthocyanins and polyphenols than black and green tea.
Anthocyanins are considered major health-boosting antioxidants with anti-cancer benefits, anti-inflammation properties, anti-diabetes properties, anti-obesity benefits, cardiovascular benefits and more.
Purple tea also has a lower caffeine level than other teas, which makes its less astringent and bitter.
