This iconic black tea is crafted using larger leaves known as souzhong, handpicked from the lower parts of the tea bush. After full fermentation, the leaves are roasted on a hot iron plate to develop depth and body. They are then carefully smoked over a fire of resin-rich green pine logs while resting on bamboo racks, allowing the aroma to permeate the leaves naturally.
The result is a dark, robust tea with a distinctive smoky flavour and earthy undertones. Its character is bold yet balanced, with a roast-black infusion that recalls the scent of wood fires and mountain wilderness. The moderate level of smokiness in this version makes it accessible to both seasoned lovers and newcomers to this famous tea.

Serving suggestion:
We recommend brewing black tea with water at around 95 degrees Celsius. Steep the tea for approximately 3 minutes, then taste to see if the strength suits your preference. If you desire a stronger brew, you may steep it for another minute or two. Use a teapot with an infuser for best results. If a teapot is not available, an infuser ball, infuser cup, or a fine mesh strainer will also work well. For each serving, use about 3 to 4 grams of loose leaf tea, or roughly one teaspoon. This tea may be steeped a second time; simply extend the brewing time to draw out the remaining flavour.
