A neodymium magnet (also known as NdFeB, NIB, or Neo magnet) is a type of permanent magnet composed of an alloy of neodymium, iron, and boron, forming the Nd2Fe14B tetragonal crystalline structure. It is the most commonly used type of rare-earth magnet. Developed in 1984 by General Motors and Sumitomo Special Metals, neodymium magnets are the strongest commercially available permanent magnets. They have largely replaced other types of magnets in various modern applications requiring strong, permanent magnets, including electric motors in cordless tools, hard disk drives, and magnetic fasteners. NdFeB magnets are classified as either sintered or bonded, based on the manufacturing process.
Note: All measurements are in millimeters (i.e., the magnets are small).
