The Keyser pipe stem is a durable vulcanite or nylon mouthpiece that features a patented dry-smoking system. It contains an internal aluminium tube that acts as a moisture trap, cooling the smoke and preventing saliva or bitter juices from reaching your mouth.
Key Features of the Keyser Stem
- Material: Typically constructed from high-quality vulcanite or hard nylon, molded for a comfortable bite.
- Patented Ferrule: The stem tenon connects to the bowl shank via a distinctive metal aluminium fitting.
- Condensation Chamber: The inner protruding tube allows smoke to swirl in the metal chamber where moisture condenses, resulting in a cooler, dry, and clean smoke.
Care and Maintenance
Because the stem traps moisture, regular cleaning is required to preserve the pipe.
- Emptying: Simply remove the stem vertically from the bowl and pour out any accumulated moisture.
- Cleaning: Pass standard pipe cleaners through the stem airway.
- Maintenance: Occasionally wipe the exterior vulcanite with safe pipe cleaning fluid. Do not use water or steam, as this will damage the pipe.
