The KEMO M152K Capacitive Rain Sensor is a highly sensitive weather detection module designed to automatically detect rainfall and activate connected electrical devices. Unlike conventional rain sensors that rely on exposed metal electrodes, the M152K uses capacitive sensing technology, allowing it to detect even pure or distilled rainwater through its fully insulated sensor surface. This innovative design improves reliability, reduces corrosion, and provides long-term maintenance-free operation.
Ideal for home automation, greenhouse control, skylights, awnings, blinds, ventilation systems, and weather monitoring applications, the module activates its integrated relay whenever the sensor surface becomes wet. The relay remains energised for as long as moisture is present, making it suitable for automatic closing of roof windows, retracting outdoor awnings, activating alarms, or controlling other weather-sensitive equipment.
To maintain dependable operation in damp conditions, the sensor incorporates automatic surface heating whenever rain is detected. This helps remove moisture from the sensing area once rainfall has stopped, allowing the module to reset quickly and reducing false triggering caused by residual water.
The M152K features adjustable sensitivity, enabling users to fine-tune detection performance according to environmental conditions and installation requirements. Two built-in LED indicators provide clear visual status information-one confirms normal operation, while the second indicates that rain has been detected and the relay output is active.
Powered from a standard 12 VDC supply, the module includes a normally open relay contact capable of switching loads up to 25 V at 2.5 A. Its compact housing and fully insulated sensing surface make it easy to install in both indoor and outdoor weather monitoring systems where accurate rain detection and reliable automation are essential.
Whether used for smart home automation, greenhouse irrigation control, industrial weather monitoring, or building protection systems, the KEMO M152K delivers dependable rain detection with the added benefits of capacitive sensing technology and automatic sensor heating.
