Potassium citrate is used alongside standard gout treatments to prevent uric acid kidney stones. It works by raising urine pH to make it more alkaline, which dramatically increases the solubility of uric acid and prevents it from crystallizing in your kidneys or joints.
Vitamin C can help lower uric acid levels and reduce the risk of developing gout.
