Being a passionate chess player and a woodworking business owner in South Africa, I wanted to build a chess board that is suited for all environments and occasions. I believe this design is the perfect hybrid between a travel chess set and a board you would proudly display in your home.
The board measures 34 cm x 34 cm with a height of 25 mm. The border is made from solid stained and sealed oak wood, giving it a refined, high-end look. The playing surface is made from synthetic (PU) leather, which requires no maintenance. It is also non-porous, meaning it does not absorb liquids and can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth.
What makes this board especially unique is its durability in a variety of environments. Thanks to the materials and design used, the board can be taken into hot and and cold conditions while remaining stable.
Included with the board is a locally made ripstop canvas carry bag that matches the quality of the board itself. This material offers exceptional tear resistance, high durability, water repellency, and UV resistance. It is designed to protect the board while making it easy to transport wherever you go.
I encourage you to take this set along on your next camping trip, braai or any event!
