Crankshaft for BMW N46 engine, designed for high durability and precision. It is compatible with BMW N46 and N43 series engines, including models like the N46B20A and N43B20A, commonly found in vehicles such as the BMW 118i. The crankshaft follows OEM specifications, with the part number 11217516040 ensuring proper fitment and performance.
The material used includes high-strength alloy steel or austempered ductile iron, chosen for its fatigue resistance and durability under high stress. To enhance longevity and wear resistance, the crankshaft undergoes quenching, tempering, and nitriding heat treatment processes. Quenching and tempering refine the internal crystalline structure, balancing hardness and toughness, while nitriding introduces nitrogen into the surface, forming hard nitrides that improve wear resistance and fatigue life.
